Chester Bridge Program

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the re-opening of the Chester Bridge this summer, the Chester Public Library will host a display of Chester Bridge photographs from August 1 until after the Popeye Picnic.    The public is invited to participate by submitting photos and/or visiting the exhibit.  During the event, Chester Public Library visitors will be asked to vote for their favorite images in various categories.

Photos should be dropped off or mailed to the Chester Public Library at 733 State Street by July 31, 2016.  If you prefer to send a digital image, library staff will print the image as sent and display the photo.  Digital images should be attached to an e-mail and sent to chesterpubliclib@gmail.com.

bridgeIn addition to the photo exhibit, the Library staff will also host Chester Bridge Programs on August 24 to recognize the exact date of the re-opening 70 years later.  Hear and see details of the original Chester Bridge opening in 1942, the disaster in 1944, and the re-opening in 1946.  Specific program times will be announced in soon.

Please help the Chester Library staff make this display extra special by adding your images to the exhibition.   You do not have to be a professional photographer to capture a beautiful photo of the Chester Bridge.  All Chester Bridge photos are welcome!
