Bills are payable at City Hall and online using CourtMoney (we accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa). You may also set up the option to pay bills using direct debit. To sign up for this service, bring a voided check to city hall and sign the authorization form. City hall is open from 7:45 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For your convenience we have an outside mail slot located next to the front door to drop off payments after hours.
Please note there is a $25.00 utility reconnect fee for utilities that have been shut off due to non-pay.

GAS, WATER & SEWER INFORMATION: To apply for utility service: Stop in or contact Chester city hall at 618-826-2326 for water, sewer, gas and trash. If you are renting you will need to make a deposit in your name at city hall. Hours are Monday thru Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Utilities can not be turned on or off after 3:30 p.m.

Beginning June 1, 2017, City of Chester has a contract with Quivey Sanitation, Inc. for residential trash pick up. Residential trash is picked up on different days (Mon., Tues., Thurs., or Fri.) in different areas throughout the city. Please contact 826-5114 to see which day your trash should be picked up. Please put your trash tote out the night before your scheduled pickup day. Quivey will only honor two (2) holidays (if they fall on a week day). New Year’s Day and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls during the week, trash will be picked up on the next day.
Quivey will also provide door service to handicapped/disabled or elderly residents when necessary. Please contact the Mayor’s office at 618-826-5114. If an additional tote is needed please call 826-5114 to request another tote at an additional $4.00 a month. Quivey will not pick up large bulk items or large amounts of trash on a regular trash pickup day. You may contact Quivey at 618-317-6790 to schedule and pay for additional pickups. Chair – $7.00 / Couch – $15.00 / Sleeper Sofa – $20.00 /Mattress – $10.00 / Box Springs – $10.00
Large Clean Up – $25.00 (about the size of a pickup bed)
Unacceptable trash: electronics, roofing, building materials, yard waste, tires, appliances, large furniture.
The city of Chester Maintenance Department will pick up bagged yard waste anytime. Please call 826-3712 to be put on a pick up list.
